Established in 1968, the Order of Commemoration of the Korean People's Army Foundation was created to recognize KPA soldiers for distinguished service or meritorious achievements in the implementation of Korean Worker's Party policies - and those who have served long periods in the KPA. It is also awarded to Public Security workers for distinguished service or meritorious achievement. Type 1 variations of the badge feature a screwback on the reverse along with "1968.2.8"
