An authentic and somewhat uncommon Soviet medal "From the grateful Afghan people" here. Awarded to members of the Soviet armed forces who served in Afghanistan. The reverse features both Arabic and Russian script which translates to "From the Grateful Afghan People." Very good condition with no damage to the enamel of either flag. Screwback with unmarked spinner on the reverse. 
 
The Medal for International Fighters (AKA Medal From the Grateful Afghan People) was instituted on December 28, 1988 and awarded to Soviet troops who served in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989.
