An original WWII Soviet Order of the Red Star here, displays nicely but shows obvious damage to the enamel of the 9 o'clock arm. Clear serial number (3,524,617) on the reverse. This Order has been researched, and was awarded to Vasily Ilyich Nikulin on December 30th, 1956 in recognition of long service. Nikulin served as a political officer in a divisional driving school/vehicle batallion. It is reasonable to assume that Nikulin was involved in the 1956 suppression of the Hungarian revolution based on his involvement with the 17th Guards Mechanized Battalion, and possibly also the 33rd Mechanized Divison (his record shows service in the 34th Mechanized, which is potentially a clerical error as there is no available information regarding a 34th Mechanized Division.)

In addition to his Order of the Red Star, Nikulin was awarded the Medal "For Military Merit" (x2), Order of the Red Star (x2), Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class, Medal "For the Victory over Germany", Medal "For the Capture of Vienna" and the Medal "For the Defense of Leningrad."

Buyer will be provided with relevant archival scans (23) and service portraits (1) via email. This Order does not come with translated documents.
