An exceptional WWII US Army ike jacket here, originally belonging to a member of the 1st Service Command serving in the 87th Infantry Division at the rank of Staff Sergeant. An extremely uncommon piece. 

 

Insignia is present on the left shoulder for the 1st Service Command. Insignia is present on the right shoulder for the 87th Infantry Division. Two overseas stripes are present on the left sleeve indicating 1 year of overseas service. This jacket also features a sterling silver Combat Infantryman's Badge and ribbon bars for the WWII Victory Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, and European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Campaign Stars. A ruptured duck patch for honorable discharge is located above the right breast. 

 

The 1st Service Command was one of 9 geographically seperate commands in the US that were responsible for the administrative and logistical functions in the area that they covered. They effectively took over for the Army Corps that previously performed those duties. The 1st Service Command's HQ was in Boston, MA, and covered MA, CT, ME, NH, RI and VT.
